For A Season

I, foolishly, thought this sort of behavior stopped after middle school. High school at the latest.

But I’ve come to understand that some people are just built for drama.

They thrive on keeping that pot stirred and it doesn’t stop at adolescence.

If anything, they become more crafty in their manipulations.

For a long while, I struggled to keep connections with folks like this. Attempting to keep a relationship alive at the expense of completely depleting my already drained tank.

And for what?

So that we can repeat this cycle of dysfunction again and again?

No thanks!

Some people are meant to be in our lives for a season and it’s okay to let them go.

As the old adage says: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I no longer play by the “ just keep swinging until you get a hit” or even “three strikes and you’re out”.

If we’ve journeyed down this road more than once I’m likely to bow out.
